Lastly, as advertised, Vince Neil did in fact cruise up to Diva's in Noho after his band's recent stop at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield for the Mötley Crüe after-party. So, needless to say, guitarist Jim O'Keefe, whose band Aquanett was tapped to perform at the event, wasn't surprised when the tattooed "80s icon strolled into the club shortly after they had completed their first set. He says he even thought it was pretty cool of Neil to go up on stage, thank everyone for coming out and hope they'd enjoy Aquanett while he went down to do some autographs. When O'Keefe and company received word shortly thereafter that the Crüe frontman wanted to perform a tune with them, however, the normally reserved six-stringer says it was all he could do not to let out a "Primal Scream" of his own in sheer excitement. "We never expected him to do that," he explains. "In fact, we deliberately decided not to do any Crüe songs, as we figured that would be the last thing he'd want to hear after just finishing up a concert that night." Not only did Neil want to sit in on a Crüe song, but he picked one of the strongest selections in the Aquanett catalogue, "Kickstart My Heart." The result, as O'Keefe reports, was a raucous, camera flash-laden romp that each Aqua-man will cherish and remember as fondly as his first pair of Spandex tights or the Don Johnson Miami Vice jackets they wore over them.
